Top 100 Breweries in the World

As we have discussed in prior newsletters, 2012-2013 saw the rise of the craft beer market.  Over the course of the last year, we have tried to stay involved and on top of what is hot out there in the beer world. We follow and take into consideration what we hear via magazines, email newsletters, salesmen and the knowledge of many friends and family beer connoisseurs when putting something new on our list. Just recently, (a reputable forum for beer drinkers to exchange information and share opinions of all different kinds of beers) has released its top 100 breweries of the world, and we are happy to share that we a decent amount of those on our beer list!

Here is the link to read more... and listed below are what we currently offer:

#3 Founders Brewing Company, Grand Rapids, MIchigan
We currently carry Founder Porter on draft, a perfect brew this time of year as we hope to finish the cold winter season.

#8 Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Paso Robles, California.

We offer their Union Jack IPA by the bottle. If you like hops, this beer is full of it.

#9 Stone Brewing Company, Escondido, California
We serve their IPA on draft. Many comment that this may be the best IPA out there. It's been a staple on our draft list for a few years.

#30 Southern Tier Brewing Company, Lakewood, New York
You can enjoy their 2X IPA by the bottle here. Again, if you like hops, multiply that by 2.

#35 Great Lakes Brewing Company, Cleveland, Ohio

We currently serve the Eliot Ness lager, a robust brew for these colder winter months that do not seem to go away.

#43 North Coast Brewing Company, Fort Bragg, California

We just removed their Pranqster Ale by the draft a few months ago. I thought it was worth mentioning because this belgian style white ale was one of my favorites.  You may see it return this spring.

#49 Victory Brewing Company, Downington, Pennsylvania
We serve a draft of their Winter Cheers ale. You may soon see us adding their Dirt Wolf Double IPA to our list.

#82 Unibroue, Quebec, Canada.

You will find their Trois Pistoles Belgian style ale available by the bottle

#94 Brasserie Dupont, Tourpes-Leuze, Belgium
Saison Dupont Farmhouse Belgian ale by the bottle. A classic Belgian ale.

As you may know, you will never find the Budweisers, Coors or Miller Lights served on draft here at the Uptown. We encourage the microbrew beers and although Guinness, Harp and Bass (known as the holy trinity of beers) consume 3 of the 10 handles on our back bar, even these are not safe from opening up for some of these other amazing breweries out there.

Keep your eye out for many others on this list that we have served in the past and/or will be serving in the near future.
