Got Palcohol?

What will they think of next? Powdered packets of alcohol may soon hit the market! Something I never thought I would see, but it just might happen. Earlier this week the "palcohol" label was approved by regulators at the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau. Since then, the decision has been rescinded an effort to revisit the actual amount of alcohol that each packet might contain. But, that doesn't mean we won't soon see palcohol on the open market.

What is this palcohol? Creator Mark Philips, says the main idea behind palcohol was to provide a convenience for anyone involved in outdoor activities such as hiking or backpacking. They could put a packet in their backpack, add it with water to their bottle and enjoy a drink during or after a long hike. It would eliminate the need to haul a case or a jug for any activity where bulk would be a factor.

That all sounds simple enough, but Americans have been known to over-indulge on any substance and this powdery packet has created much concern for regulators. They fear that because the substance is literally a powder, that it could be sniffed for an immediate high or easily transported for use in motor vehicles.

Many of the packets will be made to taste like margarita's or cosmopolitans so again regulators are very concerned of the possible addicting factors this powder may contain. Not to mention the easy access that children would have to creating their own tasty beverage while perhaps not exactly knowing what they are making.

We will see what comes of palcohol in the coming months, but if approved it would be a neat new product to keep your eyes on...................assuming it's not too harmful for your health.
