Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale

We all know Kentucky is known for its bourbon. There are distilleries all over the Kentucky landscape with hundreds of barrels storing this American classic. These charred oak casks hold a ton of flavor, and one distilling/brewing company has brought these wonderful characteristics into producing beer... yes, beer.

Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company has created an award-winning beer: Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. These cool Autumn evenings are a perfect time to enjoy this brew, and this week you will be able to enjoy this unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of American bourbon.

The Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company was resurrected in 2000 by Dr. Pearse Lyons. The original Lexington Brewing Company closed its doors after producing bourbon whiskey for over 100 years. Lyons, whose background comes from studying at the Guinness and Harp breweries in Ireland, wanted to continue the brewing tradition in Lexington. This distillery/brewer or "brewstillery" has become the creator of many award winning spirits and beers. Lyons's ideas brought together the beer-producing process with Kentucky's leading export bourbon, and more specifically, the bourbon barrel.

The Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is the result of this marriage. Within hours of mature Kentucky bourbon leaving the barrel, Kentucky Ale is stored in the used cask, creating a distinctive taste, color and aroma unlike any other beer you've experienced. These subtle vanilla and oak flavors are infused into the beer is it rests in the charred, bourbon-infused barrels. After 6 weeks of age in these barrels, this brew is bottled and distributed. These pleasantly smooth, yet robust flavors make it a perfect beer for the season.

Come sip on a glass of the perfect combination of two American classics - bourbon and beer!  Alcohol By Volume - 8.2%
