Featured Wine by the Glass

We understand that there are times when ordering a bottle of wine may not be what you're looking for.  That's why our wine glass list is a high priority to us, right along with bottle selection.  But with over 80 bottles on our wine list, it does become difficult to choose the ones which get to appear as a glass selection. Rest assured, we personally sample each one before we consider it for our list, so we know there is a wine out there that is just right for you.

When it comes to our glass list, we are proud of the wine that we pour. For the last 10+ years, we have always offered 4 whites and 4 reds of the more common varietals out there. It seems as if these are all what the typical Illinois Valley wine drinker knows. At times, we bring "trending" varietals to the list in hopes of encouraging people to try something different. This is where we showcase an "extra" red and white from our bottle list that we pour by the glass for a short period of time. Come try our new featured wines by the glass this month.

Chianti is one of those wines that comes and goes. We could go without one on the glass list for years, then all of a sudden we have more requests than ever. So, we do listen to what our customers are hoping for, and here is your chance to enjoy one of the red wine classics from Italy. A glass of this wine is perfect on these cold winter nights.

La Piuma Chianti gets its time on our glass list this week. Made from 100% sangiovese grapes, this medium body red is described best in the link below. La Piuma grapes are harvested from estate-owned vineyards, and the wine is made among the most eco-conscious producers in Italy today. Their state-of-the-art production facility in Piedmonte is powered by solar panels, and they are the recipients of the internationally-recognized and USA-certified ICEA certificate of conformity for the production of organic wine. Here is a quick description of what you will be enjoying.

If you like dry, crisp, acidic white wine, you are most likely a sauvignon blanc drinker... and our featured white wine may be just what you are looking for. Our featured white is a blend that shows all the characteristics of a sauv blanc. Chateau Graville - Lacoste Graves Blanc comes from the French region of Bourdeaux, one of the most famous wine regions of the world. This wine is made from the following grapes: 75% semillon, 20% sauvignon and 5% muscadelle. This medium body white is made from grapevines with 50+ years of age, grown in clay and limestone soil. These grapes grow quite well in these types of soil giving the wine its fresh, bright acidic flavor.
