A couple weeks ago, we had what I perceived to be a different genre of music. I called it Swang, a combination of swing and twang. Andy's self-ascribed genre is "Party Blues." While the two words are very rarely used together, it is exactly as he describes his music. Come and join the party!
Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15
7:30 start time | $22 general admission
I believe this will be Andy's fourth appearance in LaSalle. This time around, we've added a couple bonuses. First off, Andy and his band will be here for two nights, back to back... Thursday, May 14th and - if we survive - Friday the 15th.
There are actually quite a few acts who ask to play here more than one night. They always tell me what a great audience we have and that they would love to reside here for more than just a few hours with you guys. Not having to travel the next day is a big plus, too!
The second bonus: this is the first time the entire "California Crew" will be here intact. Andy plays upwards of 250 nights a year. When he is away from the west coast, he usually has to pick up some musicians from other parts of the country.
His west coast band is how I came to know Andy. The band will be Andee Avila, Supa Man, Shawn Eckels and Ernie Change, the saxophone-toting Asian Tom Cruise. While the past shows have all been fantastic... when he is with this group, watch out!
The shows are kind of "blue," and they are on the wild side. They are not for the faint of heart. We will most likely set these shows up half and half (standing versus seated) because Andy and his troup make it difficult to stay in your chair!
