Downtown LaSalle: Hometown Halloween

by Ryan Anderes

Downtown LaSalle will be hosting its annual Hometown Halloween this Saturday, October 31st. I'm pretty sure is the first time the event has fallen on Halloween itself, so things should be extra festive!

The day's activities begin at 10am at the NewsTribune, where children can have their photos taken in their Halloween costumes. Each child's photo will appear in the newspaper during the following week. There will also be a Halloween costume contest beginning at 11am in the parking lot of the Knights of Columbus. With judging offered in various age groups, the contest will award prizes for the best costume.

Beginning at 11:30am and lasting until 1pm, there will be trick-or-treating at more than FIFTY(!) downtown business locations.
Just look for the pumpkin in the window, and stop in for some candy. Yes, we are on that list, so stop in and see us!

What a show of support and community for just one downtown to have over 50 businesses take part in passing out Halloween candy! And many of them will be open for business as well. You will not find that sense of community in very many small towns. Kudos to all of downtown for their participation and effort to put on a fun day for the kids!

This year, the festivities also include a hay maze, children's games, snacks and an apple barrel ride. Come show your support for the fun-filled day that the City of LaSalle and their small businesses put on for you.

The weather looks to be like your typical fall weekend weather, so please come out and take advantage of it!
