Merry Christmas to all! At least that's our idea behind announcing the return of Griffin House. What a stocking stuffer a few of these tickets would be for that special someone! However, you must act fast. Tickets for this show usually sell out in the first week to 10 days. After that, they are hard to come by. So don't miss out on the perfect holiday gift this season.
Griffin will be returning to the Uptown Playlist Theater on Saturday night (that's right a Saturday night), February 8th. The show will begin at 8pm. Griffin needs no introduction, but if you don't know who he is read more here. We like to think that LaSalle is Griffin's home away from home, so don't miss his Homecoming.

The Giving Tree Band - Saturday, December 28th, 8pm
And if you miss out on Griffin tickets, there's no reason why you still can't get on board for The Giving Tree Band performance sandwiched between Christmas and New Year's Eve. If you appreciate live music, this is the one show you do not want to miss. Heading into their inaugural performance here last December, we were all pretty unsure of what we were going to get.

What we got was one of the most memorable performances the theater has seen to date! The array of instruments this group can perform is quite incredible. It's a show you need to see to truly appreciate their talents. This show is on Saturday, December 28th, also at 8pm. May as well start your New Year's festivities a little early!
The bio from The Giving Tree Band's website:
"Led by enigmatic brothers Todd and 'E' Fink, The Giving Tree Band are making their way to the head of a classy class of young American songwriters and performers. The Finks extended their brotherhood to all 7 members and started out with only a collective heart as big as the ocean. They now wield a wide array of instruments from acoustic and electric guitars, slide guitars and banjos to violin, mandolin and pedal steel. A band's band, they all live together, travel together and do everything as one family, harmonizing their voices and lives on and off stage. The Giving Tree Band is not reinventing but simply reuniting rock and roll. With their down-home style, they emphasize the virtue in their fierce virtuosity - playing each note with integrity, each part with humility, each song with honesty and each show with gratitude. The most common word among reviews is 'undeniable' in regards to the chemistry on stage, the energy in the room and the feeling that something special is happening. With a rare combination of stirring musicianship and exemplary songwriting, the GTB wheel is in full spin and, like their heroes before them, it's also on fire."

Tribute to Ray and The Uptown from Miles Nielsen
The night before Thanksgiving has turned into Miles Nielsen night at the Uptown. Being from Rockford, it's an easy drive down for Miles and his band. We hope to keep this tradition alive going forward. The fun part about doing these shows is that you don't always know what you are going to get. What songs are they going to perform? What stories are they going to tell? I don't think any of us had any idea about the tribute that Miles sang towards the Uptown, the audience and towards Ray. It is a special feeling to watch and listen to an artist play a song or even free lance about your place and your people. You never know what you're going to get, and that's the pure beauty of live shows.
