World's Top Trending Liquor

America, we have a problem. According to a recent poll, we are not the number one whiskey drinkers of the world. We're not even the number one caffeine consumer of the world!

Quartz, a news site from Europe has recently announced that we are no longer the world's foremost whiskey drinkers. Instead most people in America, when given the choice of whiskey, vodka, tequila, rum, gin, or brandy, prefer to choose vodka over any other drink.

One could argue that with the rising interest in making America healthy and the rising awareness of American obesity this would be the most obvious "health conscious" choice of America.  There is also an argument that says Americans are smarter than the bourbon drinkers of the world since even the worst vodkas leave you with less of a hangover than any other liquor.

As you would expect, Mexico's drink of choice is tequila while the Russians and most other eastern European counties prefer their potato vodka. But there are some places like Norway that prefer gin over any other major liquor. And in turn, most of the major European nations prefer whiskey.

With this in mind, it's slightly odd compared to the growing trends of small-batch bourbon companies that are popping up all over the U.S. A person would think that because of this and the ever-growing choices of whiskey, we would be the leading contender.

But there is also the fact that major vodka brands like Grey Goose, Belvedere, and Ketel One have become overly popular as the study shows. In either case, it speaks to stereotypes of countries in a few of these cases.

No matter what your drink of choice is - or how you choose to mix it - keep in mind that the Uptown bar is always fully stocked with a wide variety of almost any liquor imaginable, allowing you to sample the world's favorites without the expenses of traveling to another country.
