Stone "Enjoy by 4.20.15" IPA

Don't miss your chance to enjoy Stone Brewing Company's freshest IPA available, this weekend here at the Uptown Grill. With only 6 kegs allocated in the state (outside of Chicago) we are North Central Illinois' place to get your taste of this beer.

I was told you will not see this on draft anywhere else within 60 miles of us! We will be tapping a keg on Saturday afternoon, and you won't want to miss it.

When it comes to brewing beer, Stone is all about hops. So much so, that a few times throughout the year they brew and release a beer that is intended to be consumed as soon as possible. They are looking to stress the flavors of a fresh IPA and purposely brew it not to last. This current release was bottled on 3.16.15 and is intended to be gone by 4.20.15. So now will be your only chance to enjoy all the wonderful characteristics of a classic IPA beer.

The idea of the "enjoy by" date has the brewery stressing the importance of drinking this beer within a certain period of time. Each batch usually allows for about 30+ days to consume. This golden, double IPA sports a ton of hop character on the nose. While smooth and malty up front, the hops then come through and finish off with perfect balance of bitter and body. Don't forget the alcohol that comes with it, too. This hop behemoth packs a whopping 9.4% ABV.

Stone Brewing company is located in Escondido, California. It was created in 1996 as a maker of craft brews and has become one of the heavy hitters in the craft beer market. Any place with Stone on tap shows how important a good beer selection should be.

While originally distributing to California and its neighboring states, it has now seen growth into over 36 states and even some other countries. This microbrewery was recently named the "All-time Top Brewery on Planet Earth" in Beer Advocate magazine in both 2008 and 2009 and has become one of the fastest growing breweries in the United States.

While growing, Stone has also become a major leader in the "green" movement. Along with running a restaurant that uses organic products on its menu and a brewery that treats its own wastewater, the brewery itself is lined with a roof of solar panels to help cut energy usage. In fact, the brewery actually sells back power to the power company each year.

From Stone's website: "We've gone to extensive lengths to ensure you get your hands on this beer within an extraordinarily short window, and we've sent a very clear message in the name of the beer itself that there is no better time than right NOW to enjoy this IPA!"

This beer receives 98 points out of 100 in Beer Advocate. Stop by this weekend and enjoy a glass of this American Double IPA before its gone.

The countdown is on (click here)!
